Dr. Emily Sachs is a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in the Bay Area. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Fordham University in New York, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the San Francisco VA Medical center. She has conducted behavioral health research in diverse settings, from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York to a refugee clinic in Dharamsala, India. Her research and clinical interests have focused on adjustment to trauma and chronic medical illness, psychological interventions in the Primary Care setting, substance abuse, family systems issues, and cross-cultural assessment and care. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Sachs works as a staff psychologist at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, where she supervises psychology trainees and trains physicians on patient-centered care for patients with chronic illnesses. She has published original research articles in several scientific journals and shared her findings at international health care conferences.
